Warhammer Community has done an Abaddon Reavealed post, and also revealed the next (finale) book in the Vigilus Campaign! Introducing Vigilus Ablaze!
As you all probably know by now, the Chaos invasion of Vigilus will be spearheaded by Abaddon.
Awesome model, right? I'm betting he'll get new rules to go with his new model too (like Primaris-ized Calgar and the Obliterators). Sounds awesome. We'll see!
That's one hell of a battlefield. Anyway, the Black Legion is leading the assault on Vigilus, but there will most likely be a lot of other Traitor Legions following. I bet we'll get some stuff for Thousand Sons. As with the first Vigilus book, we'll be getting a ton of Specialist Detachments (or Formations) for Chaos. I don't know if we'll be getting new units - it looks like we will be, because Warhammer Community has teased images of new Havocs and promised new Daemon engines and models.
I wonder what new Daemon Engines we'll have. I have always like Daemon Engines, and was considering the option of getting a few of them for my Thousand Sons, but they just didn't fit in my list. We'll see. As much as I like the Fiends, I'm not a big fan of the Forgefiend (the Contemptor Dreadnoughts does the job of shooting 8 Strength 8 AP -1 rounds so much better), but the Maulerfiend does look cool. As I said, we'll see. And those Obliterators look awesome, and I'm tempted to ally in some of them, as well as a Master of Possession for summoning goodness. I don't know if Thousand Sons can take a Master of Possession, though. Oh, well.
To be honest, as cool as the Venomcrawler looks, it really isn't my kind of thing. I prefer the Maulerfiend to the Venomcrawler, but I guess we'll see. Why is it shooting flames, though? I thought it had 36" Excruciator Cannons, not auto-hitting flamer weapons. This is just weird. Perhaps we will have more options in the separate kit? Would be interesting if we do.
I prefer the Onager Dunecrawler, to be honest, but...well, whatever.
I also don't know if there will be Traitor Guardsmen or a Lost and the Damned Faction for Chaos Space Marines. I mean, we did have Traitor Guardsmen from the Blackstone Fortress, but we can't use them in a Chaos army (boo) unless we bring that Obsidian Malleax or whatever his name is. And I prefer to just field a Renegades and Heretics army if all I want are Traitor Guardsmen. We will see. It would be cool if we get Specialist Detachments or a new Lost and the Damned Faction where we can field Traitor Guardsmen, but I won't be holding my breath.
My secretly Loyalist Thousand Sons might be joining the fun in Vigilus, if only to mess up the Black Legion's plans, thwart Abaddon's schemes and save the Imperium, while at the same time fighting back and dodging shots from the Loyalists. Maybe. We'll see.
Is this the Fourteenth Black Crusade? Or are we still in the midst of the Thirteenth? Or maybe it's just the Black Legion doing their own thing rather than lead a combined Chaos force like they did for the Black Crusades? I guess we'll find out! If I find anything more, I'll keep you guys updated.
