First things first, well, you can visit Warhammer Community for the full news. I think I beat Natfka to this, but he'll have this up on his blog soon...real soon. So I'll hold my breath on that. It's not as if I want to compete with him or anything, and this isn't a rumor blog. The only reason why I'm reporting on this is because it affects the Thousand Sons. Maybe.
First things first. Abaddon the Despoiler is available for pre-order next week. Yay? Can't say I'm a big fan of him, since I'm a Loyalist and my Thousand Sons are secret Loyalists, so...yeah.
For those of you who are less Thousand Sons and more Chaos Space Marines, and are upset at the lack of customization or whatever regarding the Chaos Space Marines in the Shadowspear box set, never fear! Games Workshop already knows what you want, and a separate, independent box of 10 Chaos Space Marines with all the options you want, all the different wargear, weapons, etc. will be available for pre-order next week as well! You can go wild with kitbashing and customizing your own legion! This will be awesome!
Honestly, I'll use them for Chosen or Havocs, and then have Cultists or Traitor Guardsmen fill the Troops. Are we getting Traitor Guardsmen for Chaos? Please tell me we are...
More importantly for Thousand Sons, we're getting a Fortification! Okay, it's for all Chaos Factions, but you know what I mean. This is the Noctilith Crown! It makes it easier for psykers to cast their spells! Hence it's great for a Thosuand Sons army! To make things better, it gives Chaos units an invulnerable save! Okay, not useful for Thousand Sons, but pretty useful for Thousand Sons Cultists or Traitor Guardsmen (Renegades and Heretics for me if I'm still not allowed to field Traitor Guardsmen).
And we're also getting Vigilus Ablaze for pre-order next week as well. Yay!
Again, we will be having plenty of new Specialist Detachments for Chaos, which is really cool. Host Raptorial and Fallen Angels are some of them, but I'm more interested in the Daemon Engines or Thousand Sons one (if there's any). We'll see. We also have a lot more Stratagems for the Black Legion, as well as new Warlord Traits and Relics! Wow!
It's not just Black Legion who benefits from this. Apparently we're also getting love for a bunch of Renegade Chapters such as the Red Corsairs and Crimson Slaughter, as well as The Purge, Brazen Beasts, Flawless Host and The Scourged. Oh boy...we Imperials are in trouble, aren't we? NOOO!!!
It's not just Chaos Space Marines, Black Legion and Renegade Chapters, though. We're getting a huge update for Khorne Daemons as well. Okay, Slaanesh dudes and Emperor's Children fans, I know you're impatient, but your time will come eventually, all right? Just be patient and hold off from whining. Slaanesh will get his time. Just have faith.
As if that's not enough, we're getting the new Chaos Space Marines codex: the updated version! This will combine the current codex with all the new datasheets, rules, releases, updated points from Chapter Approved and psychic powers (Malefic discipline, I bet)! Notice that skull with the II carved into its head near the bottom right of the Blood Gorgon Space Marine.
There is no better time to start a new Chaos Space Marine army than now! WOOHOO! For the Emperor! Um, okay...wrong faction. Anyway, if you haven't gotten the current codex yet, this is what you should get. And if you already have the codex, then you can get Vigilus Ablaze. I'm not sure if Vigilus Ablaze has the datasheets for the Venomcrawler and new units, though, but from this chart it seems like it does not. At the same time, the description says Vigilus Ablaze has new datasheets. Huh? So...does it have updated datasheets for the Obliterators, or do we need to download them?
Update: The Facebook page confirms that the updated codex will have datasheets for ALL the new Chaos units, including the Venomcrawler and Lord of Discordant! And Noctilith Crown! And updated datasheets for the Obliterators! However, if you want the new Black Legion Relics, Warlord Traits and Stratagems, as well as the Renegade Chapters' Relics, Warlord Traits and Stratagems, you will need Vigilus Ablaze. The Specialist Detachments are only in Vigilus Ablaze too, not the updated codex. Take note of that.
Oh well...at least Chaos Space Marine is getting an udpated codex. Nice. I wonder if these Stratagems and Specialist Detachments will make them more competitive? We'll see! I'm not that invested in the tournament scene, so I don't really care. If they're fun to play with, that's more than enough for me! Anyway, I'll try to stay on top of the news regarding new Chaos units such as the Lord Discordant and stuff!
