Warhammer Community has released a post assuring us how Forge World can still be used in 8th Edition.
Long story short, we'll get Forge World Indexes similar to the Imperium, Chaos and Xenos Indexes we're getting for Citadel Miniatures, and the first 2 books - Adeptus Astartes and Chaos - will be available for pre-prder in June 3rd 2017 as well.

Every other Faction, including Imperial Guard, will all have their respective Indexes released before the end of June, so you don't have to wait long. Hip, hip, hooray!Every model released by Forge World will definitely receive its own datasheet, so we don't have to worry. Cool!

There will be more news regarding Horus Heresy during the weekend Warhammer Festival. So stay tuned for more!
This is the first news that has me a little bitter. Honestly the models and books are so expensive that the rules, especially for a mandatory update like this, really should be free.
ReplyDeleteI bought IA12 and a bunch of Necron stuff only to have the rules invalidated by the 7th ed release less than a year later (some of the stuff you could still play, most you couldn't because they referenced rules and special equipment that was removed, causing endless arguments). They never released an errata or FAQ for it either.
Now I nees to buy another book on top of the others to use them again in 8th? I was really hoping with 8th that Forgeworld units would finally get rolled into the core rulebooks but it looks like no dice.
I'm not super mad or anything, certainly not going to ragequit the hobby, haha. But I am frustrated.
Ah, I see. I don't play with Forge World (except my Vendetta conversion kit, which is just the twin-linked lascannons made of resin that I add to my plastic Citadel Valkyrie), so I won't pretend that I understand how you feel. But I do admit, it probably is very frustrating.
DeleteForge World is too expensive for me. I guess that's a relief for me, but I do sympathize with you.
