Triple Adeptus Titanicus Battle Reports

Honestly, I can't remember much other than the results, and there are three of them, so I'll need to summarize each of them or this will drag on for too much. I also don't have much time to write, given how I need to do a bunch of stuff too. Ouch. Oh well...

Anyway, let's get onto it before I forget.

Battle 1

I can't remember what happened here, but I think we both brought Myrmidon Maniples, and my opponent took a Questoris Knight banner (6 Knights?) and a Cerastus Knight banner (2 or 3 Knight Lancers). Our line-ups almost resembled each other, with us bringing identical Warlord Titans, except that he had paired carapace laser blasters instead of paired carapace turbo-laser destructors that I took for my Warlord Titan. Otherwise they had a macro-gatling blaster and a sunfury plasma annihilator. The other Warlord Titan had Apocalypse missile launchers, a Belicosa volcano cannon and Mori quake cannon, same as mine! In place of his Questoris Knights and Cerastus Knights, I brought 2 banners of Acastus Knights and 1 banner of 3 Knight Lancers. I can't remember what he had for his Reaver Titan, but I think he brought a gatling blaster and a laser blaster or something. In contrast, I brought the trusty Apocalypse missile launcher and 2 volcano cannons. Sorry for the lack of photos. I got too excited for the game and forgot to take any pictures. My bad.

It was quite a disastrous game for me, I think I lost 1 banner of Acastus Knights in the first turn alone, probably from First Fire or the combat phase. I think we both drew Engage and Destroy, but I can't remember. I know for sure that I lost both Acastus Knights by the second turn while doing very little damage. My Knight Lancers charged his, after losing one to one of the Warlord Titan's fury, and I failed to kill the opponent's Knight Lancers until my Warlord Titan intervened. His Titans directed their fury at my plasma Warlord and Reaver after the third turn, and by the end of the game I only had one Warlord Titan left. Even though the Questoris Knights struck the plasma Warlord Titan and destroyed him, despite blowing up I failed to kill all of the Questoris Knights, and he still had one remaining.

In the end, I only destroyed one Cerastus Knight banner, and failed to kill or even structually compromise any of my opponent's Titans...I think. I can't remember, but it was quite the one-sided game. Oh, well. In contrast, my opponent destroyed all of my forces, save one Warlord Titan. So that's one Warlord Titan, one Reaver, 2 Acastus Banners and 1 Cerastus banner. Overwhelming victory for him!

Battle 2

In the second game...it was just as one-sided. Weirdly enough. Anyway, this time my opponent brought a Reaver Corsair, so 3 Reaver Titans, all with a bunch of weapons. A Princeps Senioris with a volcano cannon...and I think chainfist and turbo laser destructor. The others had laser blasters and gatling cannons, so pretty cool. He also brought along a supporting Warlord Titan with a Sunfury plasma annihilator and Aurioch power claw as reinforcements, and rounded the rest of the list up with 2 Questoris Knight banners. I think he also had a Cerastus Knight banner of 2 dudes. Definitely.

After the devastating defeat of my Myrmidon Maniple almost a week before, I decided to switch things up. I found that I really like playing Knight Lances and Household forces, so I brought a Knight Lance of Acastus Knights (2 banners of 1 Acastus Knight, and 1 banner of 2 Acastus Knights Porphyrion, one of whom was my High Seneschal) and a Knight Lance of Cerastus Knights and Questoris Knights - 1 banner of Cerastus Knight Lancers with the High Lord Scion and 2 banners of Questoris Knights, which were comprised of 3 Knights Gallant and 3 Knights Crusader respectively. For reinforcements, I brought 2 supporting Warlord Titans - the same old warhorse with the carapace turbo-laser destructors, macro-gatling cannon and Sunfury plasma annihilator and the artillery guy with Apocalypse missile launchers, Belicosa volcanno cannon and Mori quake cannon. Knights are really cheap, and they barely filled out a thousand points, which was why I could put 2 Warlord Titans in the list.

Without the Mori quake cannon and Belicosa volcano cannon, my Acastus Knights ran rampant in this game. In just the first turn alone, they utterly destroyed a Reaver Titan - the one with the volcano cannon, and the Princeps Senioris (which gave me Decapitating Strike). Funnily enough, this was the match where I spent 3 Command Points on the Orbital Bombardment for each Strategy Phase, and I didn't scatter much, actually hitting the Titans and doing a lot more damage than I expected. I was really lucky this game. The Reaver Titans and Warlord Titan, lacking long-range weaponry, had to slowly move up, and I slowly and methodically destroyed them. I lost a banner of Questoris Knights in return when a Reaver Titan and a banner of Questoris Knights marched up to wipe them out, but the surviving Questoris Knight banner and Cerastus Knight Lancers engaged the Reaver Titan in combat to destroy him before they eliminated the survivors of the enemy Questoris Knight banner. The Acastus Knights proceeded to destroy another banner of Questoris Knights, and they wiped out the Cerastus Knights by the third turn, while my Warlord Titan duked it out with his Warlord Titan. By the fourth turn, I destroyed his third and last Reaver Titan with my Knights, denying him Hold the Line (I think that was what he got, in favor of Vital Cargo, while mine was Engage and Destroy). The surviving Acastus Knights (and I'm pretty sure at least 3 of them survived) attacked the Warlord Titan and, together with my Warlord Titan, destroyed him. Thus tabling my opponent. Ouch, that was pretty one-sided. Almost a mirror of the match about a week before, when I was at the receiving end of total annihilation. At least my Warlord Titan survived right at the end.

Battle 3

The final battle was played yesterday...I was practicing for the Renegade tournament in a couple of weeks, so I was doing my best to get as many practice games as possible. Anyway, I brought an almost identical list to the day before, swapping out the Belicosa volcano cannon Warlord Titan for a Reaver Titan with 2 melta cannons and a carapace Vulcan mega-bolter and a single Acastus Knight, so now I have 2 banners of 2 Acastus Knights and 1 banner of 1 in my Acastus Knight Lance.

My opponent switched things up again, and this time he brought the Knife-fighting Maniple or something, with 2 Warhounds and 1 Reaver, while 2 Reavers and 1 Warlord made up a Fortis Maniple. He also brought his own Acastus Knights - just two of them! Interestingly enough, I think that was pretty much all he could squeeze in for 2,000 points. Well, it's the Warlord with the Belicosa volcano cannon and Mori quake cannon, so it shouldn't be too bad.

That's what I thought, anyway.

As it turned out, 2 banners of Acastus Knights (3 in total) annihilated his Princeps Senioris with the volcano cannon before he could get close. His mission was Vital Cargo and mine was Hold the Line, and as it turned out, I blew up the Reaver Titan with the cargo on the very first turn. With just 3 Acastus Knights. Holy...I had used the plasma mines Stratagem to damage the leg of one of the other Reaver Titans, and he essentially got knocked down a peg by my remaining Acastus banner (of 2). On the other side of the table, the Acastus Knights basically destroyed one of my Questoris banners from First Fire alone. The Warlord Titan, for some reason, either didn't shoot my Acastus Knights or maybe he did and he whiffed his Belicosa volcanno cannon shots by rolling double ones on the armor penetration roll. Ouch. The Warhounds moved, but one of them awoke the Machine Spirit when going power to the locomotives and he...stayed still for some reason. Oh dear. My Reaver Titan fired his melta cannons onto the Reaver with the wounded legs while guarding the vital cargo that the destroyed enemy Princeps Senioris had dropped, and damaged him more, but didn't kill him.

I eventually lost one Acastus Knight in one banner, and one of the enemy Reavers hid somewhere while popping off a Blind barrage. The Acastus Knights tried to hit my Warlord Titan because I had my Knights hide behind somewhere. I think they ended up being shaken by a Mori quake cannon shot from the Warlord Titan as he tried to get rid of them with First Fire, and he did better in the second turn to destroy that single Acastus Knight that I mentioned above. I think I managed to wound the second Reaver Titan but the enemy still had 2 Reavers, 2 Warhounds and 1 Warlord, along with the Acastus. My Warlord Titan tried to fire on the Acastus, but I think I didn't do anything. I might be mistaken. The wounded Reaver with Blind Barrage moved right into the face of my Reaver Titan, and for some reason my melta cannons struck once when I rolled a single 6 to get over the Blind Barrage. I think I actually rolled the leg, which allowed me to hit him within fusion range and a couple of criticals. He died, wounded my Reaver in the body and I had a critical and a reactor leak. Well, worth it, though.

The Warhounds then hit my Knights with the flamer, and destroyed a Cerastus Knight and a Questoris Knight. Or I lost another Cerastus...I can't remember. I think I only had one left by the end of turn 3. Anyway, they didn't do much with their shooting, and the Warlord was preoccupied with trying to eliminate the Acastus Knights, but he only got rid of one despite using Maximal Fire on his Sunfury plasma annihilator and all his other weapons. On the other side of the table, my Reaver continued to square off with the other Reaver, and combined with my Acastus, destroyed it. The Warlord destroyed another banner of Acastus and another Acastus, leaving me with just the High Seneschal. The Warhounds split up...and I seized the opportunity to surround one of the Warhounds with my sole surviving Cerastus Knight Lancer and the 2 Questoris Knights. My Warlord Titan lost all his void shields after taking fire from the Warlord, Acastus and Warhound, while my Acastus were all destroyed eventually, I think after the Warhound hit him. My Knights destroyed the Warhound, and boom! It fell over and destroyed one of my Questoris Knights. Meanwhile, my Warlord failed to eliminate the sole enemy Acastus Knight with his turbo-laser destructors. Damn it!

My opponent moved his Warlord Titan and Warhound Titan forward, and my Cerastus Knight got into the back of the Warlord Titan, and took a couple of hits from the defense lasers, while my Questoris got into the face of the sole remaining Acastus Knight...and did absolutely nothing. Fortunately, his Acastus Knight had moved up within range of my Warlord Titan's plasma weapons and I finally eliminated him with a few well-placed shots. The Warlord Titan destroyed my final remaining Acastus Knight, and the poor High Seneschal went down. Ouch. In revenge, my Cerastus Knight Lancer struck him a couple of times in the body and damaged him. We rolled to see if the game went on, and it did!

In the final turn, my Reaver Titan, combined with the Warlord Titan, destroyed the Warhound Titan. On the other side of the table, my Knight Lancer and Questoris Knight, using Coordinated Strike Order, shot the Warlord Titan in the back, and even before I could get to the melee weapon for the Knight Lancer, I actually destroyed the Warlord Titan with a few well-placed Ion Gauntlet blasts, improved to Strengh 7 because of Coordinated Strike, and getting bonuses from hitting in the rear arc and because of the damage from earlier. The Warlord fell to Wild Fire, shot nothing, and completely missed my Knights, so my sole surviving Questoris Knight and Cerastus Knight survived the battle, almost unscathed (I think the both of them were on their last hit point).

With that, my opponent was completely tabled. This was a much closer game, for my Reaver Titan was suffering from critical damage in the body and a couple more hits away from blowing up, my Warlord Titan had no void shields, and my Knight Lances were decimated, with only a single Cerastus Knight and a single Questoris Knight surviving on their last hit points. That was really fun! Still, the Acastus Knights did a lot of damage, and my opponent couldn't score anything because of Vital Cargo. Ouch. Oh, well...

Maybe for friendly games I'll use less Acastus Knights, but for now I'll see how they'll do in Renegade.

Painted Skitarii, and Adeptus Titanicus Knights!

I probably have quite a few stuff to write over the next few days. I have a disastrous battle report where my Steel Dragons got absolutely crushed by Dark Eldar, and about three Adeptus Titanicus battle reports to write about (I probably will just do a summary instead of turn by turn basis). We'll figure it out...for now, I'll just focus on pictures!

First, I just thought it would be fun to do stuff like this: comparing my Adeptus Titanicus Knights with my actual 8th Edition Knights. Look at how my little Knight Crusaders stack up against my big Knight Crusader! And then the little Knights Errant running at the feet of the big Knight...well, Crusader with the thermal cannon. Not to mention the little Knights Gallant escorting the big Knight Gallant. Last and not least, we have the little Cerastus Knight Lancers standing tall with the big Cerastus Knight Lancer.

The only big Knight I don't have is the Acastus Knight Porphyrion, but that is not something I can ever afford. That damned thing costs over US$500. Nope. I'm not gonna afford that on my current salary. It sucks, but I don't have a choice but to not bother with it. Come to think of it, the Acastus Knight is pretty strong in Adeptus Titanicus, to the point it's bordering on insanely overpowered. Sure, they die easily to maximal fire from plasma weapons, or they get blown to bits by quake cannons and volcano cannons (especially the Belicosa), and if you can get in close with melta cannons or smash them in melee, they die pretty easily too.

However, they...just kill stuff. A couple of banners firing can utterly wreck a single Titan...even a Reaver Titan. Well, they probably won't do much to a Warlord Titan, but my Acastus Knights were literally killing a Reaver Titan a turn. Ouch.

Anyway, that's not the point here. I'm more interested in looking at how I have both versions of Knights! I love my Imperial Knights so much, and it's really fun to see the Adeptus Titanicus scale Knights in contrast to the normal 8th edition Knights. I can switch back and forth between both games and still play Knights. Knights are awesome! Maybe I should send the pictures to Natfka for his What's on your table posts on his Faeit 212 blog. I can see the title being Knights Big and Small. That would be fun.

After the Adeptus Titanicus game today, I managed to paint my Skitarii. I painted another Castellax in hopes of them getting rules for 8th edition someday (when they do, I'll get a second Thanatar). And then I did all their bases. The last time I posted about my Skitarii, I was talking about how the red looks really good on them, and the addition of Runefang Steel really helped them to stand out brilliantly. I liked the new color scheme and the addition of red and steel, which made my Skitarii look a lot better than the original black and gold color scheme, which quite frankly was pretty bland and boring.

So now they look cool, and I added Martian Ironearth to their bases! They are Skitarii, after all, so it makes more sense for them to be standing on Martian soil. Or at least terrain that resembles Martian soil. I hope.

My Skitarii's bases differ a lot from my Knights and Imperial Guard, who chose to use snow-themed bases (a huge touch of Valhallan Snow), but I like how they turn out, and it'll be kind of weird to use snow for Skitarii anyway. Not to mention, a little...boring. I prefer the variety. I really like the contrast - my Imperial Guard and Imperial Knights running around in snow while my Skitarii stomp about in Martial soil. Yay!

It's not just the Skitarii infantry, but also the Legio Cybernetica robots. I also had the majority of my Cybernetica automata striding around in Martial Ironearth. Yay! They look really cool! I also like the texture of the Martial Ironearth, it looks really cool!

The Draconian Skitarii with House Yato is sort of a parallel to House Taranis and Martian Skitarii. So we have the Skitarii of the forge world Draconis IV often attached to the Knights of House Yato (hailing from Draconis III), marching alongside them to war! Especially since I'm very involved in Adeptus Titanicus, I'm having my Imperial Knights bonded to Legio Draconis, my Titan Legio of Draconis IV. Thus the Skitarii of Draconis IV, who often fight alongside Titans and Knights, comprise of Secutarii. Maybe the first squad of each maniple is comprised of Secutarii Hoplites, who ride alongside a Cerastus Knight Lancer in their Skorpius Dunerider (I know it's a Skorpius Disintegrator here, but I can swap out the stuff and turn him into a Dunerider if necessary). The rest of the Skitarii serve as escorts for the Questoris Knights, while the automata of the Legio Cybernetica provide heavy support and firepower. The Skitarii of Draconis IV tend to be inclined toward Titan Guard duties, often occupying or capturing objectives after the God-engines of the Titan Legio march through a recently conquered world. The Knights of House Yato frequently accompany them, mostly because they serve as escorts and scouts for the Titan Legio.

They look really cool! Even though my painting is horrible and my colors are all over the place, I'm pretty pleased with the paint-job that I did. Hopefully I'll be able to field all of them atop the table soon! That would be awesome!

I thought I should provide some close-ups...maybe I should just stop now. Sorry.

Painted Questoris Knights!

I managed to get all my Questoris Knights painted today! Not the normal 8th edition ones, but the Adeptus Titanicus Questoris Knights. The little guys! I did a rushed job in about 2 hours, so they don't look like much, but I still managed to finish painting them just in time for the Renegade Tournament in a couple of weeks. Phew. All 6 of them are painted!

Of course, I painted them all according to my House Yato colors. The same one as my big Knights. You can see them here, the big normal 8th Edition Knights and the little Adeptus Titanicus Knights standing together. Obviously I'm using the same color scheme for both my big Knights and little Knights!

I also painted their bases white and added a lot of snow. Kind of fitting, given that I'm in the Frozen North, and it's already snowing here in November! Minnesota is known for its winters and the cold, and Minneapolis is pretty cold this early in November this year for some reason. I wonder why? Ugh. I'm still shivering from the cold outside, even though I got my heater running inside my room. It was freezing out there.

Anyway, I placed a bunch of Valhallan Snow on their bases to make it look like they're walking through a Blizzard or something. I love those snow effects, they look amazing! I need to grab a picture of all my Knights and Titans one day. And also put them together with my other Knights. I can't wait! They will look really cool!

Now I'm ready for the Renegade Tournament! Sort of. To be honest, I'm hoping to get a third thermal cannon, which I can then magnetize for my Knights, so that I can field 3 Knights Errant. I'm also waiting on a third pair of Acastus Knights Porphyrion, so that I have the option to swap out a Warlord Titan for a single Acastus Knight and a Reaver Titan. I'm not sure how it'll work out, but we'll see. This will be fun! It'll be my first time participating in a tournament, and I think I need a bit more practice because I'm not familiar with the rules. But we'll see.

As you can see, I intend to field a Household Force. There are still some doubts as to whether I can bring a supporting Titan with my Knight Lances, but we'll see. I think I should be able to, otherwise it makes no sense. Either way, I'll just play a 1,000-1,250 point game if I'm not allowed to bring Titans, or I can play up to 2,000 if I'm allowed to bring additional Titans along with my Household Force. 2 Knight Lances will be so fun to play with!

I can't wait!

Adeptus Titanicus Questoris Knights

Phew! I just barely managed to get to Dreamers Vault today, to start building and finish up my Questoris Knights. I even succeeded in priming them black (though I probably need to touch up on the unsprayed parts I missed). Not bad. I think...

Wait, what's going on? Well, I bought the new Adeptus Titanicus Questoris Knights with all the Thunderstrike Gauntlets and stuff, so now they have a bunch of weapon options. YAY! I magnetized all the arms, so I can freely swap them out for whatever weapons I need. Not only do I have a bunch of Knights Gallant, I can turn them into Knight Crusaders or Knight Errants if I need to. Just like my normal 8th Edition Imperial Knights! Pretty pleased with how they turned out. I had to use super-small magnets, but I definitely think they are worth it. Magnetizing my Knights and having the option to swap out weapons for whatever is necessary makes it so cool! In any case, I bought 2 boxes of Questoris Knights, so I have a total of 6 Questoris Knights! Add the 4 Acastus Knights and 3 Cerastus Knights and I have a total of 13 Knights so far! Oh, that's a pretty unlucky number. Well, I'll be getting a 5th Acastus Knight Porphyrion just because. That will be hilarious.

Now I have enough Knights to field 2 Lances! I think. So basically I can field an entire lance of Acastus Knights Porphyrion, with two banners of one, and one banner of two (which includes the High Lord Scion). Then I can field a close-combat lance of Cerastus Knight Lancers and Questoris Knights, preferably a banner of 3 Ceratus Knight Lancers (which includes the High Lord Seneschal), a banner of 3 Knights Gallant and a banner of 3 Knights Errant. I'll have to search somewhere for the extra thermal cannon since the each box only comes with 1 of each ranged weapon and I only bought 2 boxes (hence the 6 Questoris Knights).

There's quite some debate on whether Household Forces (basically Knight Lances) are allowed to bring additional Titans as reinforcements. Some people claim Knight Lances are not allowed to bring Titan support, but some people argue that they can. I fall into the latter camp, especially since on page 6 of Doom of Molech, it specifically stipulates that the book gives rules that allows you to field a Household Force of Knights with or without Titan support. Why write that, and then suddenly decide to ban Titan reinforcements for Household Forces?

Well, if they don't allow it, then I'll just play smaller games...I guess. We'll see. I can't wait to field my new Household Force of two Knight Lances (and perhaps Titan support)! They will be quite fun to play with!

Upgrading my Knight, reinforcements for my Steel Dragons!

So today I went and bought a new set of magnets because I decided to upgrade my Knight Errant into a Knight Crusader as well! It might sound stupid, but like I said, my Knight Paladin and Knight Errant are my very first Warhammer 40,000 models, and I will never sell or get rid of them. They hold great value to me because they are my very first army, and I will continue to hold on to them no matter what.

But...as you probably know, Knight Paladin and Knight Errant are not exactly good in the current meta. Not that I care, because I play for fun, but I thought it would be cool to upgrade them. You already know that I have upgraded my Knight Paladin into a Knight Crusader by cutting off his reaper chainsword and giving him an Avenger Gatling cannon. Similarly, I have also done the same for my Knight Errant today, cutting off his Reaper chainsword and magnetizing his arm so that he can have an Avenger Gatling cannon as well. Suddenly, I have 2 Knight Crusaders! Woohoo! One has a rapid-fire battle cannon and the other has a thermal cannon! YAY!

I can swap back and forth between a Knight Crusader and a Knight Errant as necessary. The Avenger Gatling cannon arm looks a little weird, pointing a bit too high, but I think it works. People know what it is, therefore I'll leave it as it is. Maybe he's shooting at flyers!

My newly transformed Knight Crusader wasn't the only thing I did today. I also built a second Impulsor for my mechanized Space Marines list. My Steel Dragons are a mechanized force that relies heavily on armor, so they have a lot of APCs, IFVs and battle tanks. Now all I have left is a second Repulsor Executioner and my Steel Dragons army will be complete!

I also magnetized my second Impulsor, so he can swap between shield dome and Bellicatus missile array whenever necessary. I like having the missile option just in case, you know? I don't know what else to say. The 4++ invulnerable save will make my Impulsors a lot more durable and resilient, but the missiles might be cool for more offensive scenarios where that extra firepower could make a lot of difference.

Additionally, I got myself a 4th HQ choice, the Primaris Chaplain. With him around, I could probably field an almost all Primaris force, but the Devastators will stay along with their Razorback and Mortis Contemptor Dreadnoughts. I like them the way they are, to be honest. Well, we'll see how it goes, but for now the Pirmaris Chaplain will accompany Captain Fushi and the normal Librarian to battle!

One day I'll try out my new Steel Dragons army! I can't wait to see how they fare on the tabletop again!

Painted Civitas Imperialis and new Skorpius Dunerider!

I managed to paint my Adeptus Titanicus stuff today. I painted the battlefield assets so that they won't look so plain and plastic gray, so now they look like this. Probably not ideal, but better than before. Or so I hope.

Why did I painted my battlefield assets? Well, it was because I bought a bunch of terrain for Adeptus Titanicus, and thus they look like this now. Sort of. I bought the Civitas Imperialis set, plus several spires, and now I got a bunch of terrain for my Adeptus Titanicus games! YAY! WOOHOO! I tried to finish painting them in Dreamers Vault, but I failed terribly. In the end, I went home and continued painting them at home. Bad idea, it's almost 3am now. Damn. But at least I finished painting them, so yay!

Well, this was what they looked before I left Dreamers Vault, a half-done paint job. Ugh. I'm so bad at this. And below is what they look like after I finished painting them at home. Sorry for the poor lighting and whatever, but I have quite limited stuff in my room, which makes it not very conducive for taking pictures. This is why I prefer to build and paint at Dreamers Vault as opposed to doing it at home, but I did my best. I think.

I can't wait to put my Titans and Knights among these pieces of terrain! One day, I will definitely do it. I don't know when, but I will definitely try that. Maybe after I buy the Adeptus Titanicus Imperial Knights on Saturday and begin assembling them. I can't wait for them! They will look so cool stomping around the spires, buildings and towers!

As for the normal 8th Edition Warhammer 40,000, I finally went and obtained a Skorpius Dunerider for my Skitarii. I felt that I might need it, especially for my poor Secutarii Hoplites. They were always traveling on foot, and that was slow. I wanted them to charge ahead next to the Cerastus Knight Lancer and escort him, rather than have the Titan Guard infantry fall behind the Cerastus Knight. Oh, well. So I decided to buy them a transport, and there you have it - the Skorpius Dunerider!

I made sure to paint the two Skitarii Rangers inside! While they are transporting the Secutarii Hoplites, the Skitarii Ranger crew inside will lay down cover fire with their cognis heavy stubbers! The servitor on top has even more cognis heavy stubbers! I wish it was galvanic rifles or something, but I'll take what I have, I guess. This really looks cool, it resembles a...what did you call it? Higgins Boat? The awesome amphibious landing boat that the Americans used during World War II.

I magnetized the thing...sort of, and assembled in such a way that I can swap the Skorpius Dunerider for a Skorpius Disintegrator. So it's basically a 2-in-1 vehicle. If I need to ferry my Secutarii Hoplites around, I'll stick to the Skorpius Dunerider. Otherwise I'll swap it for the Skorpius Disintegrator. As it turns out, it's pretty easy to build both parts and switch between both versions. I think? Yay!

So there you have it. The Ferrumite cannon...

And the Belleros energy cannon. Cool, right?

Oh, and because you actually need to assemble the main turret weapon with the Servitor that is the same one you use for the twin cognis heavy stubbers for the Skorpius Dunerider, the hatch that houses the turret weapons was empty. So I took the Skitarii Alpha that was supposed to poke his head and torso out of the cupola and used him as the gunner instead. Pretty neat solution, eh?

One day I'll be running a combined Adeptus Mechanicus and Imperial Knights force (the Knights will probably belong to a Mechanicus aligned House, but House Yato is pretty versatile enough to switch allegiances between the two when necessary), and I can't wait to see how they complement each other! I hope we get not only an update for the Adeptus Mechanicus in Psychic Awakening, but also the Mechanicum forge world stuff - just like the Adeptus Custodes, I hope we will eventually get 40K rules for the Horus Heresy Mechanicum units!

Adeptus Titanicus Tournament

So we had an Adeptus Titanicus tournament on Saturday. Sorry, I was writing stuff, so I didn't have time to write this battle report on Sunday even though I should have. Whoops. Anyway, it was a fun tourrnament, and I enjoyed myself tremendously. It was awesome! There were about 5-6 participants, including me (I ended up coming late because I missed the bus). I think most people played 3 rounds, but I only played 2. Not that I mind, because I'm just there to have fun.

The first game was pretty cool, it was against a guy who brought an Axiom Maniple. Meaning he had a Warhound Titan with plasma blastgun (I think) and Vulcan mega-bolter, a Reaver Titan with laster blaster and power fist and a Warlord Titan with Apocalypse missile launcher, mori quake cannon and Belicosa volcano cannon. I can't remember the details, but yeah. He had the mission Engage and Destroy, whereas I had Hold the Line (after we discarded our second missions).

In contrast to him, I brought a full Knight Lance, with a single Reaver Titan as a reinforcement. So 3 Cerastus Knight Lancers, 2 banners of 2 Acastus Knights Porphyrion, and a Reaver Titan with Apocalypse missile launcher and 2 volcano cannons. As an aside, this was a 1,000-points tournament, so I couldn't bring my Fortis Maniple of 2 Warlord Titans and 1 Reaver Titan as they would go over the 1000 points limit.

I think he managed to start first, and he had his Warhound use Full Stride. I can't remember if he had his Warlord fire First Order, but I might be mistaken. The Reaver probably didn't get anything. I did use First Order for my Reaver. Just fired my missiles on the Warlord, but didn't do much except get a shield or two down. I think. Anyway, the Knights just moved up the table, because I had no orders to give them except Charge for the Knight Lancers. Oh, well. They moved toward the Warhound. I can't remember, but I think he tried to shoot my Reaver with the Warlord and failed...or something. As for my Knight Porphyrion, they fired upon the Reaver and took down all his shields. I might have done some damage or something, but I can't remember. He was mostly out of range for the Reaver and the Warhound had used Full Stride, so no go. We both used Stratagems - I had some orbital bombardment that could only be used once per battle, and it failed to do anything. Scattered off, clipped the Reaver and maybe took off a void shield. Nothing. In contrast, my opponent used artillery bombardment, which could be used every Strategy phase, but it scattered D10" and for the most part did nothing.

The second turn, the Warlord fired his mori quake cannon and basically did quite a few devastating hits on the poor Acastus Knights Porphyrion - especially when he learned how scary they were with their first volley on his wounded Reaver. I think I had my Knights Porphyrion and Reaver Titan combine to destroy the Reaver Titan, while my Knight Lancers charged the Warhound and poked it with their arc lances. I forgot that they can shoot in addition to using their melee weapons. Damn it. Anyway, they did quite a bit of damage to the Warhound's body, but with just 4 attacks, I wasn't doing much. Again, I should have fired a few shots with the other weapon. Dumb of me.

On the third turn, I think the Warlord Titan and Warhound Titan managed to destroy a banner of Acastus Knights Porphyrion and a single Cerastus Knight Lancer, so he got something. The Warlord Titan contined to duke it out with my Reaver Titan, firing his Apocalypse missile launchers and Belicosa volcano cannon, but the guy kept making his void shield saves, and he stayed where he was to do Emergency Repairs during the Strategy phase to ensure his reactor didn't go into the orange, and to restore whatever void shields he lost. So the Reaver Titan basically survived the whole game. Meanwhile, my Knight Lancers continue to stab the Warhound Titan with their arc lances and finally destroyed him. Fortunately, the Warhound just fell over and completely missed my surviving two Knight Lancers, so neither of them took any damage. Phew!

On the fourth turn, the Warlord Titan continued to pelt my remaining Acastus Knights Porphyrion with his Mori quake cannon, dealing a few other hits. I can't remember if any died this turn, but yeah. Meanwhile he continued to trade shots with my Reaver Titan, but nothing happened, and my void shields remained up. I think I did finally maange to bring his void shields down and started doing a lot of damage to his body. We rolled a D10 to see if the game would continue, and it did!

This time, the Warlord Titan destroyed all the Acastus Knights Porphyrion, and I had none of them left. Just 2 Knight Lancers and the Reaver Titan. My Knight Lancers charged and poked him with their sticks, but the Warlord was tough. Just took a bit more damage, but that was about it. We rolled a D10 to see if the game would continue on to turn 6, and it did!

In the last turn, I finally destroyed the Warlord Titan with my two Knight Lancers. The catastrophic explosion destroyed one Knight Lancer, but the Knight Seneschal took a couple of devastating hits and remained standing on his last structure point or two. I think he had about two left, if not his last one. Phew!

At the end of the first game, I instantly gained 20 points for the primary objective of Hold the Line because there were no enemy units in the battlefield. My opponent earned a total of 6 victory points with his destruction of two Acastus Knights Porphyrion banners. Even without my Decapitating Strike Stratagem, I essentially won a major victory over him. But he wrecked quite a lot of my Knights!

Game two was much closer and deadlier for me. This time, my opponent brought 4 Warhound Titans in a Lupercal maniple. One had 2 plasma blastguns, I think. One had a Vulcan mega-bolter and a plasma blastgun. The other also had a turbo laser destructor and...I can't remember. An inferno cannon? The last one had a laser destructor and a plasma blastgun as well. That was 900 points, so he has an extra Command Point, apparently.

We both drew Hold the Line this time in addition to our other missions (no way in hell was I going for Glory and Honor). So my opponent seized the initiative and the game went on. He had his Warhound Titans all move up, with two in a squadron using Full Stride or something. Before I could do anything, he completely destroyed an entire banner of Acastus Knights Porphyrion with his plasma blastgun's maximal fire. I managed to injure two of his Warhounds pretty badly, dealing critical damage to the head of the Princeps and giving him MIU feedback while the other took quite a bit of damage to his leg, but I wasn't able to kill anyone.

The second turn was grim, and I lost another banner of Acastus Knights Porphyrion, and maybe one Cerastus Knight Lancer. I did, with the shooting from my Reaver Titan, finally destroyed the Warhound with the wounded leg, meanwhile my Knight Lancers mostly survived the shooting because they had the smokescreen Stratagem popped off. One Warhound for 2 banners of Acastus Knights Porphyrion. Not a good trade. The Princeps Senioris's Warhound Titan did use Blind Barrage and hid somewhere, so I couldn't shoot him at all.

In the third turn, I think I managed to have my two Cerastus Knight Lancers charge the Warhound Titan (the Princeps Senioris) and lock him in combat. Meanwhile, the Reaver Titan traded fire with the two fully unscathed Warhound Titans and lost quite a few of his void shields. He almost managed to down their void shields in exchange too, but nothing too exciting. I think my opponent used the orbital bombardment Stratagem, scored a direct hit on my Reaver Titan, and rolled two ones for the armor roll. Ouch. Nothing happened. As for my Cerastus Knight Lancers, they poked the Warhound's critically injured head with their lances and wrecked him completely, and he...fell over. I think one Cerastus Knight Lancer died, can't remember if it was from the shooting or because of the Princeps Senoris's Warhound fell on him. But my Knight Seneschal survived. YAY! I think the Warhound must have exploded, because I remember my Knight Lancer Seneschal having just 1 or 2 structure points left by the end of the battle after suffering a couple of Devastating Hits. Hmm...

Fourth turn, because we both had Hold the Line, my surviving Knight Lancer Seneschal charged up the battlefield to get into my opponent's deployment zone, and also to hide from the Warhound Titan's fire as much as possible. The Reaver Titan lost all his void shields and took damage to his body from the maximal fire, but in exchange I dropped all of their void shields. I don't believe I did any damage, or maybe I did? Immaterial, for we rolled a D10 and the game ended there and then.

Neither of us had Hold the Line because we had enemy units right in our deployment zones. The two Warhound Titans were in my deployment zone, facing off with my wounded Reaver Titan, while my Knight Lancer Seneschal was hiding somewhere in my opponent's deployment zone. That meant we had 0 points for our mission's primary objective.

However, the secondary mission objectives are where it was at. My opponent scored a total of 4 points for killing my Acastus Knights Porphyrion (scale of 5 divided by 2, rounded down, to give him 2 points each). I scored a total of 6 victory points for killing 2 Warhound Titans, each of them netting me 3 points. Furthermore, I revealed my Stratagems at the end - Decapitating Strike gave me another 3 victory points for killing his Princeps Senioris, while the Vengeance Stratagem, which I selected the Princeps Senioris for, had also given me yet another 3 points to bring me up to a total of 12. YAY! So I managed to win by the skin of my teeth. Phew! Any closer and my Reaver Titan would die, giving him 8 points to my 12, and I literally had 2 models left on the table, with almost all of my Knights completely wiped out. That was so close! I was almost tabled! I can't believe I somehow won!

Adeptus Titanicus is so fun. I can't wait to play again! I think I'll be participating in the Renegade Open in November, bringing my Titans for an Adeptus Titanicus narrative event! Legio Draconis shall march to war!
