Instead, we'll focus on Warhammer 40,000. Or to be more precise, Horus Heresy. And they released rules for Zone Mortalis today! I'm also splashing my hobby budget on comics instead of Warhammer models (that's why that's on hiatus for a while). The new Imperial stuff is awesome. I'm a sucker for science fiction, sorry.
Anyway, Zone Mortalis. We can bring Leviathan Dreadnoughts, massive walkers and vehicles now! Woohoo! Might be a tad claustrophobic, but that comes with the territory. With Breachers and new-scale Cataphractii Terminators on the horizon, there's a lot to look forward to.
...damn it, I need that pay raise. I can't even afford Saturnine right now, how am I ever going to get Breachers and those Cataphractii Terminators? Ugh.
Zone Mortalis is like half the scale of a regular Horus Heresy game, meaning you field 1,500 points. It has opened up to allow more variety of units, unlike last edition, as I said above regarding vehicles and walkers. No aircraft or barrage weapons allowed, though. Oh, and you need to set up dense terrain, walls that obscure line of sight, and doors. Bulky units and vehicles with more than 3 Hull Points get stuck in narrow confines and can't turn or move, so be careful about navigating your Dreadnoughts!
You can download the rules here. Have fun!
Oh, speaking of which, JellyMuppet is back to publishing Horus Heresy articles on Goonhammer! Yay! Inductii and Blackshields articles are out, so you can check them out there. From what he typed, it seems he had them written a week after the rules were released, so there must have been some publishing delay or something. Well, I don't know anything regarding their release process, so I won't comment on it. All I'll say is that I'm delighted Goonhammer is finally publishing those Horus Heresy articles! I was looking forward to reading them! Get ready for their take on Daemons of the Ruinstorm and Shattered Legions soon!
