The Templi Prudentia, which seems to be the precursors to the Shadowkeepers Shield Host, detects a disturbance in the warp originating from the Signus Cluster, so they go there. The Blood Angels expedition spots them, but they do the whole secretive Custodes thing and tell them to behave as if they're not there. While the IXth Legion investigates the outer system, the Legio Custodes go to the inner system instead, having only a single ship...but lots of armor, lots of jetbikes and lots of Custodes. Relatively - there are a few hundred Custodes, from what I can tell. They are also accompanied by a cohort of Tyrian Exoguard, who's commanded by Marshal Artuk Rahm.

Horus Heresy Errata and FAQs
We finally have rules update for The Horus Heresy! Yay! And one of the best improvements is to the Vanguard rule, which affects me a lot because I play Knights and my Solar Auxilia are mainly Veletaris sections (and my Imperial Militia are composed of Grenadiers). So now Vanguard now allows you to score X (mostly 3, going by my Knights) when you kill units within 3" of the objective marker at the start of the player's turn. That's huge, because it means the opponent can't simply use a Reaction to move his unit away from the objective marker to deny your scoring of Vanguard points. Yay!
Other FAQs include rolls of 1 for armor penetration always fail, regardless of whether it's equal or greater than the armor value of the target. So even if my Knight's Strength 12 reaper chainsword rolls a 1 against an AV10 Rhino, it fails.
There are also line of sight stuff, and I see people complaining about how terrain has infinite height and no line of sight can be drawn. Just a caveat, though - that only applies for heavy terrain. You can still draw line of sight over light terrain, and above 3" for medium terrain, if I'm reading it right. If not, feel free to correct me.
Apparently, you are free to not target different units if you make multiple shooting attacks with a Vehicle. Also, more than one units can make the same reaction in response to the same enemy unit. E.g. if an enemy unit ends a move within 12" of 2 of your units, and within line of sight, both of them can Reposition.
Also, for those of you army builders - if you have a detachment that restricts you to taking specific units for a specific slot, e.g. Support slots in the Dreadwing Detachment only allowing you to take Rapier units and Interemptors, then even if you use the Prime advantage Logistical Benefit to take an additional Support slot, even that slot must be restricted to Rapiers and Interemptors. So you're better off taking a War Engine slot or something, I guess...
Also, if your transport gets destroyed during your movement phase, and your unit makes an emergency disembarkation, they can still move. And charges they make count as disordered. And if your blast weapons scatter back to your tank, e.g. my Leman Russ Executioner tank's plasma cannon, then you treat it as being fired from the actual target (e.g. the Terminators I targeted) when determining which armor facing gets hit. Blasts also don't scatter off the table - treat it as if the center of the blast marker hits the edge of the table. Deep Strikers count as having moved their full movement characteristic when deep striking.
Vehicles can now make saves or damage mitigation rolls against glancing hits. Also, vehicles cannot move vertically or be set up on any level that's not the first floor. Makes sense, so please stop pretending your tanks can climb buildings. Also, units can only disembark from a transport after it makes its full move. You can't move halfway, disembark the passengers, then continue moving the transport's remainder of its movement characteristic.
Feel No Pain is updated, but...I don't see no change, you still discard damage as long as you roll X (Feel No Pain 5+ means you ignore wounds whenever you roll a 5 or 6). Edit: Oh, so Feel No Pain now takes effect whenever you take damage, not just during the shooting and combat phases. Shot Selector now has Breaching 5+. Also, Overseer, Master of Auxilia can now join Imperial Militia units as well as Solar Auxilia. Imperial Militia don't get left out now, yay!
Mechanicum models with Comptroller doesn't let Vanguard units they join score more than 1 point for controlling Objective Markers. Heterodoxists now have to deduct the difficulty Cybertheurgic points when doing their powers. Also, Decimator swaps the heavy flamer and claw for an option now. Apparently, when Titans move and cause Cool checks, anyone passing the Cool check stays as close to his original position as possible, as long as he doesn't end up under the Titan or in base contact with an enemy.
Zone Mortalis has a new map for Configuration Tertius.
Clearance protocol, no quarter also has a new map.
Auxilia Battle Combat Technicians now have Battlesmith 3.
Also, an errata for Prospero Burns: The Judgement of Valdor that I somehow missed the first time - Thousand Sons are no longer the only Traitor Legion who can take Tzeentch Daemons as an auxiliary detachment. They're now open to all Traitor Legions, just like Slaanesh Daemons. No wonder that detachment wasn't specific to Emperor's Children. Well, Word Bearers were there, so...
I guess that's all, folks! I glossed over quite a few things like Challenges because those are challenging to comprehend, but aside from that, these are the stuff I found most interesting in the rules updates. I hope your games will be better now!
Strangely enough, I don't see Goonhammer...ahem, Tabletop Battles writing anything about Horus Heresy. Hell, they didn't even do their usual preview on Assault on Kol. Don't worry, I'll write about the lore, but...uh, I won't write anything about the rules, aside from mentioning the obvious - that there's rules for Slaanesh Daemons and the affiliated Solar Auxilia. Oh, well...

Warhammer 40,000 Big Autumn Q&A
Hah! Adam and Eddie answered my question! Thank you!
Yeah, when you see a question about Imperial Knights, you can bet it was me. Well, not 100%, but where else are you going to find an Imperial Knight fanboy?
Anyway, their answer is: Nope, Cerastus and Acastus chassis will not be in the 11th Edition Imperial Knight codex. Horus Heresy era Knights will not be included in the codex datasheets, but they will not be removed, so most likely they will still be Imperial Armor units like the Custodes' Orion dropship and Ares gunship. Or, at the very least, they will get Legends rules (hopefully it'll be Imperial Armor rather than Legends, so that they can still be used in tournaments).
Would be great if they're part of the whole digital content thing that they promise for codex every quarter (e.g. Legion of the Damned), with lore and stuff to back them up. Not sure what to say, though. Anyway, we'll see!

New Custodes
They come with the usual adrathic destructors or lastrum storm bolters, or infernus pike. I like the infernus pike myself, but that's just me. Also like adrathic destructors because they're so Dark Age of Technology.
Their weapons are so cool! I think they'll come in boxes of 6, or boxes of 3, but I'm not sure. I guess we'll find out!
Though it's about the Signus Cluster, the Blood Angels aren't involved here. Instead, it's about the Custodes ending up in the mining world of Kol and fighting against Slaanesh hordes. So we'll get rules for Slaanesh daemons, and probably corrupted Solar Auxilia who worship Slaanesh.
Apparently, you also get "new" Custode units, but they're mostly Command slots, so a jetpack Custode command/HQ/officer - the Venetari Proconsul - and a Hykanatoi Proconsul-Delegate, who's basically a lower-ranked officer than the Shield Captain. Oh, and Jetbike Sodality have a new updated profile. Interesting.

The Second Week of the Siege of Death Mire

Reincarnator x Regressor
Yeah, I've been busy the past few weeks, unfortunately. I'm still working on Starry Knight, but I thought I should feature this as an aside.
I'll try to balance this and Starry Knight, but since they're both going on my Pixiv account (I'll set it up soon), we'll see how it goes. Till then.

The first week of the Siege of Death Mire
The first week of the Siege of Death mire has ended, and it is an Imperial victory!
As Yarrick said, soldiers of Armageddon, be proud! The Imperial Guard (NOT Space Marines) have held the line and repelled the Orks, and now we tactically retreat from the Tempestor Victorum line to the Cloisters to better defend against the greenskins.
Soldiers of Armageddon, make ready.
Oswald is proud of you all. He'll toast you some sacra.

Big Summer Preview
For people like me, who don't really enjoy the painting aspect, this is an Emperor-sent product. Sounds expensive, though - costing over twice a Combat Patrol makes me nervous, don't know if I have the budget. Ouch.
The big Dreadnought in the room, of course, is none other than the Telemon Dreadnought. Now you have all the Horus Heresy Dreadnoughts that were previously resin, released in plastic! Woohoo!
I am tempted to get all the Custodes Dreadnoughts (one of each), led by a Shield Captain or two, and a couple of Custodian squads, just because of how cool they are. Eventually, I'll want to add Aquilon Terminators if they're ever released in plastic, but that's for the far future. Games Workshop prices are premium and near unaffordable, so I can't really buy as many miniatures as I could in the past. It feels like their prices have doubled over the last ten years. Whereas my salary has not. It's insane. Can't keep up with the price hikes, so I'll end up buying much less. It's fine - I do have other hobby stuff down the pipeline, so it's not that much of a loss.
As a Thousand Sons guy, I'm defintiely getting this. Prospero Burns? The homeworld of my Thousand Sons! Poor Ignatius. Anyway, it seems the Legio Custodes have their own agenda going into Prospero and razing Tizca. They come with a new Cohort Doctrine, plus rules for a specialist Solar Auxilia detachment called Adjutorum Sodalities who will support the Shield Host. Yes, Warhammer Community only says retinues of specialists, but the livestream mentions they are Solar Auxilia. Interesting.
I don't play Aeldari and I also don't play Kill Team, but I see this and I think: kitbash and conversions. Might get a couple of boxes just to turn them into Astra Militarum or Imperial Militia Rough Riders. 6 dino-riding dudes, enough for a mounted Force Commander and 5 guys. Plus Beastmaster Troops as Caimans. Nice. But that's also for the far future. Though, I'm excited to see what rules Exodites get for Aeldari in the wider Warhammer 40,000 tabletop. Will be fun to include them in your Aeldari army! With the new Detachment system, you can add an Exodite detachment alongside your Wraith one!
If you remember the Mori Quake cannon, the twin gatling blasters, twin turbo laser destructors and conversion beam extirpator, which used to be in resin - and I actually have them - they are back! And soon to be available in plastic!

Made some progress
On the other hand, I created an MCP server to help me speed things up, but I dunno if it'll work. But for the most part, I drew everything - including the backgrounds so far - myself. But if I get overloaded, I'll use my MCP server for help.

Working on something...
I've the line art of the first chapter completed for now, so now I'm going to color them...I think. So you don't have to squint and read what they're saying. It'll be up soon, when I'm done. Given it took me 3 weeks to do all the line art, it'll likely take me another couple of weeks to do the coloring. Ugh.

The Devastation of Tallarn Lore
I will have to sum everything up because there's over 50 pages of lore in this book, and I don't think anyone wants to read every single detail. If they do, they would have bought the book, not read an online article, ha ha. In a way, my summary is to persuade you whether you should buy the book, or to help you catch up on the lore quickly, to know what's this whole Tallarn is about.
- As Loyalists - comprising of hosts of Imperialis Auxilia, battle-automata, Legionaries, Knights and Titans - reinforce Tallarn, the Iron Warriors find themselves on the back foot. Perturabo dispatches a fresh force to establish a stronghold on the surface, targeting Sapphire City, which sits atop a massive shelter network thronging with Loyalist troops, and provides a staging point within the Northern Desolation. They succeed, slaughtering millions of Imperial Army crew, and also apparently with the help of Alpha Legion operatives, who attack the Loyalists from within.
With Tallarn's atmosphere toxic from the virus bombs, the Iron Warriors descend in environmentally sealed vehicles to search for the Cursus, focusing on the northern continent, especially in the area that was formerly the Crescent Province, encompassing Tallarn's shelter network around Khedive Plateau.
Despite their initial successes, the Loyalists' ambushes stall. Iron Warriors storm batteries and Thorakite siege lokhos bombard cities to deprive the Tallarn of cover, Fire Raptors strafe the sites, and Land Raiders and Spartans' AV14 being too tough for the Tallarn tanks to penetrate.
Cohort-Marshal Jasira Sannoval's Carmine ambush tercio was fighting against the Iron Warriors in the Sapphire City spaceport when the reinforcements show up, about six freeblade Knights and their accompanying talons of Armigers smashing apart Iron Warriors Predator squadrons. The Empyrean Coursers Freeblade company has saved Cohort-Marshal Sannoval's Carmine ambush tercio, and they repay the favor by attacking alongside the Knights to annihilate the IVth Legion division.
The Iron Warriors begin with an orbital bombardment of Sapphire City, then deploy a vast invasion host under the command of Warsmith Cyrus Strux and his Hexad Themata, as well as Titans. In contrast, the Loyalists are divided and bickering amongst themselves, with officers from a hundred different Imperialis Auxilia regiments arguing over the course of action, while Legiones Astartes, Taghmata and Knight commanders kept to themselves. This forces Cohort-Marshal Sannoval to rely only on the Tallarn Reborn even as the Sapphire City is bombarded.
The Sapphirine Ghosts finally strike, a Valdor tank destroyer taking out 3 Leman Russ Demolishers of nthe Galibed Oathsworn. Leman Russ Annihilators of the Sapphirine Ghosts attack the Oathsworn tanks from behind, joined by Executioners' plasma cannons that blind the Traitor crews. Vanquishers disable or destroy Leman Russ and Malcador tanks on the flanks of the Traitor Stormblade super-heavies (not Stormsword? I thought they were Stormsword super-heavies).
In the end, Perturabo fails to get the arcane weapon he wants, and the Inwit Protectorate remains vulnerable to the Traitors. Apparently, the Domain of the Reaper - the Death Guard and Mortarion - expands from Barbarus as they swallow entire star clusters, while Loyalist holdings around Deliverance retract as Traitors and renegade hosts surge.
